Lanolizing Instructions

For your Wool Roots Puddle Pad / Mattress Protector

Lanolin is extracted from the wool. It is produced by the sheep to keep their wool coat fresh and clean. When the mattress protector is lanolized, it will become more water resistant and it will stay fresher for longer.  

1. Dissolve around 1 tablespoon of lanolin in a cup of hot water.
2. Fill a large container with lukewarm water and add the lanolin rich hot water. 
3. Immerse the mattress protector, and let it sit until all the lanolin is absorbed by the fabric (1-2 hour, or overnight)
4. Take the mattress protector out, squeeze out excess water and wrap in a clean towel.
5. Air dry.

Additional tips

1. If possible, lanolize your mattress protector after each wash.
2. Dilute some lanolin and put in a spray. Spray your pad to keep it well lanolized between washes or just for a little extra protection.  Caution: Too much lanolin will make the mattress protector sticky.  However, that will not impact the performance of the protector negatively.  The extra lanolin will gradually be absorbed by the wool and could gradually be removed during washing.
